Bantham Estate Sparkling, South Hams, Devon 2024

The Wine.

Made using the Champagne method and using the same grapes as Champagne, this is a delicious English sparkling wine which reflects its coastal Devon terroir. Fresh and biscuity with pithy lemon fruit, it is complex and balanced with an emphasis on delicacy of flavour over intensity. It is drinking beautifully now but will age well over the next 4 or so years.  

The Estate.

The Bantham vineyard was planted in 2021 with a view to producing top quality English still and sparkling wines that reflect the maritime terroir of this part of the South Hams coast. 

The conditions here are excellent, with south facing slopes getting plenty of sun and a cooling sea breeze that keeps the vines in good health. The harvest is done by hand and the estate manage the vineyard with a keen eye on sustainability and regenerative viticulture.
